Skyline Standoff – new map in NextWar WarRock.
Skyline Standoff is a remake of the iconic Call of Duty map Highrise which is popular for its sniper gameplay and “trick shotting” videos such as ‘Mom get the camera’ or the crazy sniper montages.
Map overview
- Set on top of a nearly constructed skyscraper with two office buildings on opposite sides of the map.
- One of the many unique features of this map is its multi-tiered construction; both offices can be accessed by a tunnel underneath, which leads upstairs at various points in between.
- NIU’s 2nd floor can be accessed via the crane while Derbarans 3rd Floor can be accessed via a risky jump of the map, into a construction platform.
- Both of these locations provide great view, but they are high risk - high reward as the path to access these locations exposes you to most players in the map.
- This map is the first ever CQC map that features explodable barrels, which can be used to kill anyone unfortunate enough to be within the range of the explosion.
- The map also features many glasses that cannot be shot trough, learning to effectively use these could be crucial to your success.
- Unlike the previous maps, this map is much larger with great lines of sights for snipers and other long range gameplay.
- The map is not 1 to 1 to the original because of the limited availability of assets in Warrock, its slightly larger but because of Warrocks faster movement speed, we are expecting it to play well.
- Known “issues” which we consider to be features as they are not changeable at the current time;
- Invisible Walls on the office dividers on both of the offices, this means you cannot jump over these objects, so just go around them instead.
- The broken fences cannot be shot trough, regular fences can be shot trough.
- Crane tower cannot be shot trough even though you can see trough it, consider this as a feature as well at least for now.
- The crane is a bit glitchy, you can slide fast even upwards.
Known bugs
- Some of the ground is a bit “soft”, you might go in ankle deep but it shouldn’t be an issue. the stairs below helipad going underground is a bit buggy, check it out and try to play around that while we think of a fix for it for another update.
- The crane is a bit glitchy
- You are able to jump down the map and survive but there is nothing to see, you can just walk into the minefield and die to get back up.
Easter egg hunt!
- There is something hidden in the map, first player to provide a screenshot of any of these will receive a prize for the Open Beta.
- There are something not so hidden that I would like to see a screenshot of, I will give a little something for the trouble.
- We like action here at Next War, if something cool happens, provide us with a screenshot or a video and you might just receive a prize or two if the material happens to be to our liking. (Unlike usually, you are allowed to post videos of this map action on the chat-beta or beta-screenshots channel *)
We also had a Client and Server update just a little while ago with some great improvements such as the return of the Roll Switch and “No aim change”, check them out over at beta-changelog
